New DLT Rules About CTA Whitelisting While Sending Bulk SMS In India
TRAI has released its latest update on DLT rules. To ensure the safety of recipients and consumers, TRAI has introduced CTA whitelisting.
The following article has all the information you need about the New DLT Rules Regarding CTA Whitelisting While Sending Bulk SMS in India.
New DLT Rules About CTA Whitelisting
In the current situation characterized by a rise in fraudulent activities, it is crucial to closely monitor the Call to Action (CTA) in use.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently introduced new guidelines about the variables utilized in SMS content templates.
It is imperative to ensure that all the variables used in the content templates are pre-tagged and whitelisted by the DLT operators.
Additionally, thorough verification of all URLs, OTT links, phone numbers, and contact information must be performed by the DLT operators.
These new regulations will come into effect on 1st September 2024. Therefore, for any content template applications submitted after this date, it is essential to ensure that all variables are duly verified. Non-compliance with these regulations will result in serious repercussions.
Senders failing to adhere to the new rules by utilizing unverified and non-whitelisted variables and CTAs will face penalization, including the grounding of all headers and suspension of content templates.
How to comply with the new rule with pre-existing content templates and variables?
You don’t need to be concerned about the existing content templates and solutions at the moment. TRAI is currently in the process of developing rules and will subsequently provide updates for the existing ones.
It is highly recommended to have your variables and templates authenticated to prevent any disruptions in business communication.
